What is a Masthead Anchor Light?

A masthead anchor light is a type of navigational light installed on the masthead (top) of a boat or vessel. Its primary purpose is to indicate to other vessels the presence and location of an anchored or moored boat during periods of reduced visibility, such as at night or in foggy conditions. Here are some key characteristics and functions of a masthead anchor light:

1. Position: The masthead anchor light is typically mounted at the highest point on the boat's mast, which provides maximum visibility from a distance. This elevated position helps ensure that the light is visible from all directions and unobstructed by other structures or equipment on the boat.
2. 360º Visibility: A masthead anchor light is designed to emit light in all directions, providing a full 360º visibility. This allows approaching vessels to see the anchored boat from any angle, helping them navigate safely and maintain a safe distance.
